Mia Wasikowska ("Alice in Wonderland") and Michael Fassbender ("Inglourious Basterds") star in the romantic drama based on Charlotte Brontë's classic novel, from acclaimed director Cary Fukunaga ("Sin Nombre"). In the story, Jane Eyre flees Thornfield House, where she works as a governess for wealthy Edward Rochester. As she reflects upon the people and emotions that have defined her, it is clear that the isolated and imposing residence -- and Mr. Rochester's coldness -- have sorely tested the young woman's resilience, forged years earlier when she was orphaned. She must now act decisively to secure her own future and come to terms with the past that haunts her -- and the terrible secret that Mr. Rochester is hiding and that she has uncovered...

Also starring Dame Judi Dench, Sally Hawkins and Jamie Bell.

  • HATE the font they used.

  • michael ass-bender

  • Michael Fassbender is so fucking hot i cant stand it...

  • More humour in the book than the film. There was no portrayal of village/town life in the film. In the book an amusing moment that came out of a potentially devastating one was when Jane was in the local ale-house inquiring about the wherabouts of Rochester. The patron informed Jane, in the middle of a general conversation, that the "Lord of the manor" (or words to this effect) had passed away. Of course, it was Rochester's father he meant. A moment for a smiling Jane that the film missed.

  • The film was good. If you did not know the book the beginning of the film, however, could leave a person not appreciating the potentially calamitous position of Jane. One of the memorable bits in the book is of Jane, having run away from Rochester, careering from house to house looking for something to eat, never mind shelter. She literally knew nobody else. The film running time could have been made even longer to portray this predicament better. I would have watched it for 3 hours.

  • 2006 is much better and let me just say, if you hadn't of read the book you'd of thought this a horror movie ha ha, but this version is good too, like really good, only I like 2006 better:)

  • Mr Rochester Is Too Fucking Sexy.. :D

  • @littlespider9 you definitely answered my question. it does look well put together, but the the complex setup to the original novel is a must for me.

  • ugh he is so yummy.

  • A beautiful movie, but if you're a purist in regards to the novel, not necessarily what you're looking for...
