I look at this now and its quite obviouly the island, they dangle it in your face. But the firat time i watched this, seeing the plane, was a huge WTF moment. The only problem with this, and i know im picking at petty continuity errors, how the plane breaks up here (positioning and stuff) doesn't work with how the tail section crashed at the beginning of "The Other 48 Days"

Music is what truly makes this opening awesome and season 3 too is all good along with Seasons 1 & 2

Everytime i see this, when the plane crashes I get chills up my spine, thinking about all the people on the plane, and what they have and will endure in coming seasons, god I love this show!

@supermovies88 I vote for season 2 opener. Then this. Closely followed by season 6. Then season 1. Then season 5 and 4 tied for last.

AMAZING opening sequence. Truly surprising, clever and sets the tone for the rest of the season. Lost is one of the best series in TV history.

What a great opening, this was for sure a WTF moment for the show. I remember thinking that when I saw Ben walk out of the house, especially when the plane broke up and then when you saw the wreckage from afar. I was like "WTF!"
M. Emerson and E. Mitchell are great additions to the cast, wonderful actors both. Lost rocks!!!
