My friend Tiffany and I wanted to add our voices to the many supporting Proposition 8 in California in defense of traditional marriage. We hail from the San Francisco Bay Area.

  • Ew. This is disgusting an offensive. They sure did get it right. Thats what I've always know the definition of freedom to be: taking away someone else's rights. YEA YOU! Your religious beliefs that so vehemently preach LOVE, just did an excellent job of projecting hate... for something you won't even try to understand... because your religious text books say it's wrong. I can't wait for this to be repealed. It will be. JUST YOU WAIT!

  • We do preach love. We also preach order. We live in an "anything goes" society that, without protecting the fundamentals, will cause EVERYTHING to go. I'm sure the time will come when I will no longer be among the majority. But don't blame me for where society ends up. I tried to keep it together.

  • I love how you deleted my other comment that stated that I had both a mother and a father... a father who spent little time with me, and a mother who liked to drink, and I would rather have two moms or two dads that loved and cared for me than what I had.

  • The only comments I've deleted were ones using vulgar or obscene language. Occasionally someone tries to rid a comment by flagging it as spam. As I catch those, I clear them of the flag. Your opinion is forcefully against mine, but as far as I know I've kept them posted.

  • Children deserve being loved by parents regardless of gender.

  • I imagine having one set of guardians/parents regardless of who they are to be better than a child getting bounced around the foster system. I don't doubt the sincerity and love of gay and lesbian couples towards raising children. That doesn't change what the ideal is that society should maintain. The BEST situation possible is a father and mother- man and woman. Each brings a unique aspect to raising children that any other combo can't make up for.

  • well then we need to have two definitions of marriage. one only done through the church with no legal rights, purely symbolic. and something different provided by the government that entails all the rights.

we're not taking away YOUR rights. you are taking away OURS.

  • For those posting, both for and against, you may want to consider the fact that in order for your argument to be taken seriously in real life you may want to eliminate any demeaning reference to the opposing view. Not too professional and not effective in the least if you are truly concerned with sharing different points of view.

    Food for thought.

  • um no it didnt

  • It must have been challenging to stand up for Prop 8 in the SF area. Good for you. It's sad that freedom of speech and religion, both constitutional rights, are being labeled as bigotry.

  • WTF?

  • When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist. When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat. When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist. When they came for the Jews, I remained silent; I was not a Jew. When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.
  • "... our past cases at the same time uniformly establish that initiative measures adopted by the electorate are subject to the same constitutional limitations that apply to statutes adopted by the Legislature, and our courts have not hesitated to invalidate measures enacted through the initiative process when they run afoul of constitutional guarantees provided by either the federal or California Constitution."

    - From the CA Supreme Court.

    It ain't over yet!!

  • using my language in conjunction with that statement offends me.
