Berklee College of Music recently held a nationwide competition for "Best Highschool Guitarist". I was 1 of the 10 finalists asked to perform at Daddy's Junky Music Store in Boston in order to win the competition, where I performed the first 4 minutes of an origonal song entitled "The Emo Holocaust". This is a crappy video of part of my performance!

*If you're into thrash metal/heavy metal/hard rock check out some of my origonal songs at www.myspace.com/nickvirzimusic*

  • That was sick. I'm entering this year. Only downside is, jazz kind of blows. I'm writing a metalcore song for this. Are you entering again this year or are you too old now?

  • I'm too old now I think. If you want to have fun, then do whatever kind of music you want. But if you want to win then you have to do something bluesier. Jazz doesn't blow though!

  • Nah, I don't really care if you don't like Jazz or not. Check out Django Reinhardt playing the song "Belleville". He shredded like a motherfucker and with only 2 fingers (his hand was damaged badly in a fire early in his career).

  • nice jam dude. did you write this? i'm doing a scarified cover for this year.

  • Yea, I wrote this. Scarified. If you want to win though I would recommend doing a blues jam or something like that. I was the one not playing jazz or blues when I competed (I competed 2 years in a row).

  • do u hav a cousin named nicole

Well, I just don't really "get" jazz. Just like most people don't really "get" breakcore (If you don't know what it is, look up The Wizard's Finale by Nubbinownz, fastforward to about 5:30, and you'll see what I'm talking about.) I can get into anything but jazz and country. Those two genres just don't really stick with me.. =/

No offense by the remark I made by the way.

And I forgot to mention - as long as you're between 15 and 18 you can enter.

  • thats some nice playin man, i hope i can be as good as you some day

  • Are you a fan of metal music lol
