I gave up midwifery when our daughter came to live with us. The last
time I "birthed" anything was out cat's kittens two years ago. It was interesting but raising our daughter took priority.

I've heard you can eat the leaves as well, like dandelion greens. I boiled some up and tried it and made the same face you did! Really bitter! Maybe it's better to pick the greens before the plant flowers? Have you heard of plaintain prepared this way?

In the early Spring all of the plant is edible but this heat has caused everything to "bolt" early and make seeds so hardly any of the wild greens are edible, this year. This is unusual.

Are the plantain leaves here in the North too? (city person here)

They are every where! The late Euell Gibbons showed how you could literally eat off the land in Central Park. But this comes in the cracks of sidewalks and along building foundations. It survives!
