Mari was born with a severe hearing loss. She was aided at 3 months and we started Early Intervention soon after.

Our first exposure to signing was through Signing Time. I watched all the videos, then signed up for ASL classes at the local community college. My teacher used to sign to me and ask "Where did you learn that? I didn't teach you!" What a waste of money that class was - Rachel taught me more than they did!

Marielle's first sign was at 7 months. She now knows over 60 signs and is learning 3-5 new signs per day. Her language skills were recently assessed at 21 months!

  • Well we did NOT get chosen!! Boooo. They don't know what they are missing!

  • This child seems amazingly advanced for her age. Her comprehension is far beyond her years and she seems to be extremely intelligent and progressing quickly. She seems to be very interested in everything around her and in communicating that to other people.

  • Yes, she's a great communicator. We have an intesive powerpoint regime we do daily to work learning new signs. :)

  • wow. she's so beautiful! it helps that we share the same name.:)

  • Beautiful Baby.....My daughter is named Märielle. This is the first time I have seen another Marielle.

  • awwe, shes adorable. my name is marielle too, i thought no one had that name. i was wrong.

  • I think it's great to see parents who are caring and willing enough to take the time to learn to sign and teach their child to sign, rather than just implanting the child and expecting her to speak like a hearing person. It's an awesome thing to see and you should be very proud. She's great at signing!

  • That's a lot of easter bunnies!!

What a cutie, and a great signer too.

  • She is a MUST HAVE for the next Signing Time. Especially for how young she is. PS I love the color of her "aids". You are an awesome mother! Keep up the great work and give yourself a huge pat on the back.

  • This child is amazing and adorable.
