@dhodges45 I'm not begrudging him the option to close quit his work and close his business. As I say, he is lucky.
Maybe my choice of words could have been better. Perhaps I should have said something like "He is certainly in a nice position to be able too..." thereby taking the concept of "luck" out of the phrase.
Most people are not in a position to be able to do that. He is. Good for him.
As to my frugality or frivolouslness, that is not something you could know anything about.

Why does that make him lucky? He has a small business that he is having to close the doors on. And why is it that people hate people who can afford to retire. He was smart, went to school, worked his whole life (he's in his late 60's) and has not over spent. And just because he's a Dr doesn't mean that he makes so much money that he can do whatever he wants. People choose to either live frugally or frivolously. If you choose the latter then it is your own fault.

@dhodges45 Lucky doctor, to be able to quit his job like that. Most of us need to continue to work, even if things are perfect.
As to the cutting of Medicare reimbursements, you can thank your friendly right wing extremists who want to gut Medicare, along with the moderates who were complicit in voting for the cuts.
The proponents of the cuts (which are used to fund Obamacare) was a futile appeal to the moderates and right wing, hoping to garner enough votes to pass the bill.

My Dr just sent out a letter to all of his patients saying he was closing his practice because of untimely and underpaid Medicare reimbursements that were a direct cause of Obamacare. That is directly from his letter. Not made up. Not off of TV. From my Dr to me. Its real folks...

This guy should have his medical license taken away. There isn't a drop of truth in what he said. Telling lies that are this egregious amounts to medical malpractice.
Shame on him.

massmanute - I'm so disappointed that Americans can't think for themselves and need crap spoonfed to them. No one learns critical thinking. No one reads or questions. It has gotten worse over the years. (and evelyn84170, so what if my doctor is a Muslim? It's obvious that you, too, are one of the uneducated, unwashed masses)

@birdiemom11 You make very good points.
It seems there is large segment of the population who will believe almost anything, even if it is directly contradicted by the facts, as long as it conforms to their preconceived notions.
The disappointing and scary thing about this is that very few of them are willing to take the trouble to become well informed. It is just too easy to let nutty talk show hosts and political opportunists form their opinions for them.

That is all BS.. I can't believe that you guys actually believe that a handheld device sends a message to a committee that decides treatment. That is so, so stupid. NO ONE WILL PUT DOCTORS IN JAIL. Nobody's leaving practice. This guys is a Tea Party scare-mongering idiot, and nobody's cutting Medicare. Medicare fraud has ALWAYS been there and has nothing to do with the Health Care Affordability Act. Good grief. READ, folks.

@sparky1rn Hmmmm, so let me see if I understand you correctly. You are complaining about government funded health care because you had a twelve million dollar cut in government funded health care. Is that right?
