  • They dont make em like they used to, such lovely music, such civilized looking musicians.

Sigh, what has 'progress' done to our society!

  • I want to back in time....just give me Civil Rights and some penicillen and aspirin....(sp)...oh and some dial soap...and a microwave, and color TV, and TV dinners, and some AC, and some HBP medicine, and some pain killers, and some automatic Ice makers in my fridge, and Oh shit!...better stay here and just listen to Al Bowlly and wish...Thanks YouTuBe!!!!

  • Has Al Bowlly ever recorded a bad song? Everything he does is good and in most cases better than anyone else - even if he does a cover version of their song. Now that's real talent - not many can do that!

  • @Memusclebear I feel the same way. I want the big band like this playing at the carnival, the classic movies, the way people dressed then, the vintage signs along the roads. Just give me the modern conveniences and treats everyone equal then I will be very happy.

  • The song was written by Walter Jurmann and Fritz Rotter for Richard Tauber's first German film, Ich glaub' nie mehr an eine Frau [aka 'Das Dirnenlied'], made in 1930.

  • Messed it up with screaming so-called pop singers and ear drum shattering synthetic noise.

  • Poidam,

You have the "Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven", which is how Maurice Winnick described his music.

  • Beautiful. Springtime reminds me of Al!

  • Nice to hear this as i was going through your channel. I uploaded a version the other week by Frank Titterton. This is lovely.

  • It was a pitty I couldn't meet Maurice. It would have been nice to meet my great uncle.

At least I have his sweet music.
