E of DEX: Nice! Thanks for posting! Hmm... I don't know why but when I saw the first 8 seconds of this video, I thought about a pinata. Wierd! Anyway, yeah thanks for uploading!
Urusei comics are all together vol.32 (wide sized ones are total 15) and this ep's plot that you can read vol. 11 (part3 - "Amaterasu-enkai" in Japanese title).
You can type "Urusei Yatsura LAN" and find out some descriptions on yahoo site. There are two names LAN and Ran exist on purpose in Japanese manga based on Rumiko Takahashi who added LAN over her artworks and pieces of merchandise. However, you're absolutely correct about "Rei" and "Ranma". Rei means "zero" in Japanese and I like the jokes from both of manga and anime ep36...lol
Ran's name is Ran. There is no "L" consonant in Japanese, although the "R" sounds like "L" a lot. Thus, Rei sounds to us like "Lei," Ran sounds like "Lan," and Ranma sounds like "Lanma." There are times with the "R" sounds more like an "R," like when you say "Torajima," but when the R consonant begins a word, it sounds more like an "L."
What does mean?

Ran's real name is LAN.
She pretends to be a human being at Tomobiki highschool even though everyone calls her LAN
except Ataru.
