thanx for this....it took me a half a f' in hour to figure out who actually sang the version that Vernel Bagneris covers/apes in "Pennies" 1981. Knew it wasn't Bing. Love the accordion in this version.

neither the soundtrack nor the movie did well. Nevertheless, it's still a great movie and great soundtrack.

The series Pennies From Heaven starring Bob Hoskins was a very well produced series - it is available on DVD.

I didn't Google it, but thinking "Pennies From Heaven" wasn't received very well. Thinking it was the "One From The Heart" (Coppola's big flop) feather in Steve Martin's hat. But boy they put out big for the stages/backdrops/costuming.
But just didn't work. Sorta creep a lot of people out, too.
I remember watching some of it during a Free HBO Weekend in the 80s, and thinking, "NO, Don't GO-THERE, STEVE!!!"

Uh oh. Just realized, there's a little harp for you in there. I need to pull out my old stereo demonstration records and see if there's actually any real harp songs on them.

I'll be wantin' to watch it (Pennies From Heaven) now.
I wasn't ready to receive it back in the 80s. My vague memory is that it was a funky but well done "Camp" movie, but I just didn't care back then.
Yeah bring on the damn harp if ya got it! I swear I haven't heard a good harp riff since the 70s in my mom's Church.
