blender 2.49 yaf(a)ray renders

there are some blender internal, yafray and yaf(a)ray renders.
to get all three i had to use blender v. 2.45 + 2.48 + 2.49 which took some getting used to.

iv noticed that with yaf(a)ray, which i only started using a couple of months ago, the quality of the renders are much higher than those of the internal and the old yafray(as you will/can see).

to acheve the quality in yaf(a)ray i used the photon mapping option, it takes ages but the results are amazing. as an idea of timescale the last clip took about 7 hours to render whereas the longest internal render took only 2 hours. im especially proud of my roman villa/baths style render at the end

note:
blender internal is blender's default render engine whereas yafray and yaf(a)ray are add-on scripts.
if you want to use yafray you have to have v. 2.45. it wont work on later versions.
my grass was made with help from the blender guru's "The Secret to Creating Realistic Grass"

is it hard to setup yafaray?

@coolymichael unless something changed since a year ago, no its pretty easy to install.

just make sure you are using the correct python release, the yafaray download page will say which one.

@enjoiskate11 i feel the same way about yafaray and i can say i'm not that bothered about 2.5 as i can use 2.5's faster fluid bakes in 2.49 anyway and that was the only thing that i found was useful about 2.5, i'm sure enthusiasts are loving it but i cant say the same as i find the interface a bit clunky and of course the lack of support fro yafaray and luxrender.

@invisible0tom Oh really? I didnt know that. Thats cool. I like both interfaces equally i gotta say. But i just like all the yafaray features so much that i was bummed when i couldnt get in into blender. (and i dont know coding)

@enjoiskate11 there is a way if you know how to script with python, there's a video on youtube somewhere , i'm fine with 4.9 as i like the familiarity of the interface and 2.5 wouldn't speed up yafaray as its an external renderer.
