  • This guy was my first Big Brother (not including the celeb version) crush ! It's only been him... and Freddie Fisher! x

  • hot for a ginger.

    in fact...just hot full stop.

i was completely in love with him! can't believe how long it's been.

  • @keithc1977 I think that Coolio was probably the most misogynistic housemate ever, but Rex definitely has a problem with women whom he only saw fit for one thing. I doubt that he is a homophobe though, as his father - whom he idolised - is very gay indeed.

He certainly had problems with Mikey, but I don't think it was due to his disability, Mikey was just extremely annoying and not a particularly good role model for blind people, my in-laws are both blind and they were disgusted by Mikey.

Con't I don't think that Rex was out of his wealthy bubble for very long at this point and in his everyday life he still had the title of "Chef" to excuse some of the shitty behaviors that he still posessed. I hope that having to watch himself on this show helped to acclimatize him to what is acceptable in a society where your money doesn't excuse your behavior to those who don't have any, and aren't impressed by it.

Con't In a huge family what's mine is yours and so on, the lines on personal property become very blurred so Rex could not even understand Alex asking him not to use her lighter, let alone her reaction when he did use it.

And (I'm not proud of this now that I'm not longer ignorant.) in big, and especially old, money society there is very much an 'Us and Them" mentality, sometimes this manifests itself with "isms" in regards to certain people that reside in the "Them" group.

    Interesting post, Keith.

I think that I excused a lot of Rex's behavior on the show because I understood where he was coming from in contrast to the other contestants. I, too, come from a monied family, have a ton of siblings and, essentially, absentee parents who still loved us more than anything. Like Rex took the read less travelled and found myself in very different social situations than what I was accustomed to. INLIKE Rex I canged in order to fit in, Rex hasn't.

  • Rex was a useless waste of space. He was arrogant, homophobic, he treated the women with a sexism the likes of which I don't think was ever seen on BB before or since, and judging by the way he treated Mikey, he was also anti people with a disability. What a bastard.
