  • Well, I don't know if you still check this but I'll ask anyway, since it's free. Where did you find the go/no go gauges for the AK?

  • @KFORVET Manson Reamers. They carry CIP spec 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 gauges.

  • what happens when its a no go? how do you set the headspace?

  • You remove the barrel pin and set it so that it gauges correctly. You then drill and ream the barrel pin hole and install an oversized pin.

  • I've always wondered exactly how hard head spacing is. I didn't know it was just a "see if the bolt closes" deal. I really appreciate your tutorials!

  • Well, Checking the headspace is that easy. If it doesn't check out then you have some work ahead of you :D

  • really you only need a no go gauge to headspace a rifle and use a live round with the firing pin out. this should save you from having to spend another 30 dollars for an extra gauge that you might only use once.

  • can i buy you a new camera?

  • @BuildyourownAK Thanks for the reply. Is the DVD you sell a from beginning with a kit and receiver flat to completed rifle?

  • Great video. Its a good idea to strip the bolt and remove the extractor anyway, since in many of these old parts kits (especially Romy "G") gunk and material can accumulate behind them and hinder their movement.

  • @bf3pwner no. you have to reposition the barrel.

  • By any chance do you have a video on drilling a Virgin ak barrel?,i have a bunch but have not drilled any yet so i'm kinda nervous about wrecking one. Thanks alot!!
