Welcome to Part 5 of our '2001 Retrospective', in which Poparena and I confront Confused Matthew's controversial review of '2001: A Space Odyssey'.
In response to CM's disparaging 'crap floating in space' line, we cite examples of films with long stretches of nothing happening, such as 'Lawrence of Arabia', and stress their dramatic effect. We then question whether CM could appreciate any media with subtle scenes or qualities against the normal grain.
You can find parts 1-4, and Poparena's own Animorphs series, through this link: www.youtube.com/user/poparena.
Stay tuned for the following four installments in this series.
Cheers!
I honestly find these videos to be more interesting than your reviews. Not to say anything negative about the reviews, but these videos are more interesting to me. They last longer, add double the insight, multiple views on the same subject, a natural feel without contrivances, and so on. I say you should do more.
