I've been a fan of Cephas & Wiggins for awhile and own a couple of their CDs. But I've never heard this tune before. I keep playing it again and again - it's definitely got a hold on me!!!

I adore blues, first time I hear John Cephas and I am blown away....

If I could learn to play the blues with even 10% of John's skill...!

I saw them perform this song at the Wayne C. Henderson Music Festival in Whitetop, VA, back in 1996. I had never heard of them but I loved their set, especially "Roberta".
I was covering it for a local newspaper and it was the most horrible job I've ever had, but things like this made it bearable. R.I.P., Mr. Cephas. You scattered gems across my path.

This is a great video. I always loved this song, and I haven't heard it since I lost my "Dog Days of August" tape many years ago. I will certainly miss John Cephas, I hope Phil keeps up performing now that he's gone.

Man ... this is just amazing to me ... I was at this festival and this was the first time I ever saw Cephas and Wiggins play. I'm not sure if it was the week before or the week after that I bought my first harmonica, but this song was THE SONG that did it for me and invited me into the world of music. To be able to see this moment I've remembered so often for 25 years now is amazing. To find this the day after the passing of my friend John Cephas has lightened my heart. Thank you.
Thank you for your heart felt comment. This show, The Brass Monkey Blues Festival, was my most favorite production in my 38 years of TV directing. You might want to check out Mark Wenner, of the Nighthawks, doing "16 Tons" in a clip from the same festival.
