The visual artist Cornelis Hoek (born in Lutjebroek, The Netherlands in 1937) came to live in Thailand (Chiang Rai) nearly ten years ago. Here he pursued his "old obsession". From March 2009 onwards, he turned his creative efforts to what he terms "Cornelages", detailed and intricate paper-cut photo collages which have since been successfully exhibited in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai and Nan.

Using scissors to create the colours on his palette and brush techniques, he brings together historically and geographically different ingredients into a carefully manipulated and visually smooth but unreal composition of an unthinkable reality.
