http://lockergnome.net - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - Over on our popular questions and answers site Lockergnome.net, bcgocubs asked how a computer will benefit when using an SSD. Also, they would like to know what everyone's general opinions are regarding solid state drives vs traditional hard drives. A traditional hard drive has moving parts, but is quite inexpensive compared to an SSD. The solid-state drive is just that: suspended in a solid state with no moving parts. It may be more expensive to buy one of these, but many people are starting to believe that they are much better for your computer. What are your thoughts? http://chris.pirillo.com - http://live.pirillo.com

  • Nope, I get 1 TB for $100 HDD, 160GB for $450 SDD. Not worth it at all...

  • my hard drive is burning my lap right now...can't wait till ssd gets cheaper

  • @vidmanproductions mine never has

  • I have a 120gb hdd at 5400 and 3gb/s with 8mb of cache and the capacity pisses me off way more than the speed because I can't download anything without deleting thing that are important to me. I'm going to go with a 1tb 7200 6gb/s 32 cache hdd and put it in raid 1 and maybe upgrade to ssd later. SSD is the way of the future though, right now it's not ready for prime time. 100mb/s r&w is fine for me.

  • I <3 my ssd

  • Is it really a good idea to sit your laptop on the bed top like that, doesn't it over heat?

  • get both! install your os on the ssd store your crap on a hdd

  • DAAAAMN WTF again you caled it SOLID STATE DICK :D(DISK) it's drive not disk.

  • @MetalShreader yeap. you're right. ALTHOUGH i feel the mac experience * tech support and customer service competence equals out the price you pay and gives you a worthy result. this is just one of the reasons why I prefer to custom build my own computers. cheaper costs. i am allowed to use MY experience and choices of hardware, and STILL have a great experience with really no worries and EXCELLENT performance. just depends. i love pineapple. some prefer strawberries..ALL good fruit :D
