Actually it does work like two time warps. You do get 2 additional combat phases, one after the other, so you get in total 3 combat phases, but you're guy is untapped twice after the first attack not once after each attack. So it goes:
Combat Phase 1: Attack -> Untap -> Untap -> +1 Combat Phase -> +1 Combat Phase
Combat Phase 2: Attack
Combat Phase 3: No untapped creatures that can attack.

He has you dead EASY on turn 8 (3:28) if he double-blocks your War Monk with Bloodbraid/Thrinax on attack #1. If you kill both, you go to 21 (gaining 1 off of Wall at EoT), and he has 5 attackers for the overrun turn, and his swing puts you to 4.
Your other option is to just put all the damage on Bloodbraid, which means he traded Bloodbraid for War Monk, which seems good.
He also would've killed you if he knew he had Bloodbraid for the overrun turn, and hadn't chumped the second Monk swing.
It doesn't work the same way as two time warps because it explicitly says "if it's the first combat phase of the turn..." That line overrides any default procedures when it comes to triggered abilities.
