About 45 minutes west of Fort Worth, Mineral Wells was a world renowned health resort in the 19th century thanks to the well water, which was believed to have curative powers. Today, you can still buy some of the "crazy water" but better yet, why not enjoy a dip at Lake Mineral Wells State Park? The park's 20-mile trailway follows an abandoned rail path, making it a car-free trail for hiking, biking and horseback riding. The park is also popular with rock climbers.
