I understand why he changed her name from Linpoo (or Rinpoo) to Lin. It does flow off the tongue so much better than Linpoo, and sounds much less ridiculous.

I still prefer Katt.

Reference is definitely the best word to use there. Because Breath of Fire 5 has nothing to do with the rest of the series, at all. Breath of Fire 4 is also on the fence as far as that's concerned, but at least it has a little more resemblance to the series.

If you protect her, she'll get the flashing icon faster and her critical hit rate becomes ridiculous when she's in your party.

It's totally not my place to butt in or make assumptions, but I think it makes sense - because the Breath of Fire 5 characters names seem to be referencing the Breath of Fire 2's cast. Bosch, Ryu, Lin, and Nina. /o/; So it makes sense...

FYI, the game doesn't CRASH if you turn on transparency, but some cutscenes do glitch a little.

The one where Rand asks you to give him your money would be an example: he teleports in while the textbox is displayed. The original, opaque textbox hides Rand's sudden entrance, but the transparent one makes him sort of pop in out of nowhere.

The cutscene later where Daisy saves Rand from the crushing trap would be another example, so maybe it's a Marks family secret. XD
