A photography & poetry project I did on child sweatshop labor in foreign countries. Screened at world human rights festivals in Hollywood and New Zealand. More info on film here http://leshengliu.com/Children.html
Oh, I kow I'm not a good person. I'm just as much a wretch as the next guy. I've just got Jesus showing me what to do is all. I'm sorry I was so bitter in that last comment. I shouldn't have attacked you so personaly like that, especialy without any consideration of what your life may have been like. Bless you.
I'm sorry, I should have never said "grow up". That's a rude thing to say, and please forgive me for saying that. Also, thinking about what I wrote, I again am sorry for saying the world is a "cruel, dark place", it's only that way because of people like me. Please, have hope, dreams, and ambition. Never listen to someone like me who's seen too much bad to hope for good. The world is different now, and hopefully people like you will become the leaders. God knows we've failed. Good luck.
I would venture to say the you believe, with all of your heart, that you're a good, and responsible person, and that your typical empathetic lecture was geared to the "best interest" of these children. However, the simple fact is that they (third-world children) are labor, nothing more. My nation has evolved, and can subsidize child labor with immigrate labor. However, the countries in question do not have that ability. Thus, the child labor is needed. The world is a cruel, dark place. Grow up.
I can't believe your lack of empathy for these children. Clearly your consumption has blinded you of the horror that kids in sweatshops have to go through. I find it horribly hypocritical to say that children in your own country have rights to be free from labor and to have the chance to education yet still find the exploitation of children in another place acceptable. And you have the nerve to justify this child abuse with "as long as we get our products cheap". Turn off your TV and get real.
Thank you for sharing this video. I was working with Vietnamese children last year who are trapped in sweatshops. Although they have jobs their childhoods are stolen. Children are not meant to be working. Children are not meant to be slaves.
In answer to the comment above, not everyone adopts the consumer lifestyle. Through initiatives such as Freecycle and the Compact alternatives are realistic and achievable.
I get it. Don't you think your viedo is a little redundant? Listen, as long as we get our products cheap, and those kids have jobs, then all is good with the world. Would you rather see then starving? They may make little to nothing, but it's something. What, are you looking to save the world? Funny thing is, once you graduate, you're going to be a BAD consumer. People like you trip me out. Never worked a day in your life, and plead for the working class.
anybody fighting to get rid of the sweatshops must love child prostitution and scaveging for rubbish. Thats their only alternative.
