Former Libyan leader Colonel Gadaffi was captured and killed by rebel fighters on Thursday following the fall of his forces last remaining stronghold - Gadaffi's hometown of Sirte. This animation recreates the circumstances leading up to his capture.

  • Libya != Iraq.

    Where as Saddam had played hard on sectarian divisions between Sunni's and Shiites, Qaddafi used mostly foreign mercenaries and his own tribe for support.

    Saddam had brutalized his people into submission and let them get squeezed by years of sanctions. Qaddafi's people were, *relatively speaking* in much better shape when they started protesting.

    Saddam was not overthrown by a rebellion, he was annihilated by an invasion. Qaddafi's own people took him down.

    Libya = Not IRAQ.
