Response to the debate between Muslim and Christian on "Is Jesus God?"
Quick analysis:
Rev 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
Rev 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia
Rev 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am (Alpha and Omega) the first and the last:
Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
In short, Lord Jesus says "I am Alpha and Omega, the Almighty God".
Detailed analysis is as follows:-
Rev 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace,
from him (God the Father) which is, and which was, and which is to come;
and from (Holy Spirit) the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
Rev 1:5 And from (The Son) Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood
Rev 1:1-3 is the Prelude about the message from God and Jesus
Rev 1:4-6 is salutation of the letter to the 7 churches.
Rev 1:7-8 Prophecy about Jesus Christ
Rev 1:9-20 Narration of Apostle John's vision
The phrase "which is, which was and which is to come" in Rev 1:4, is the attribute of God to mean "the present, the past and the future". And Jesus was talking in the similar manner in Rev 1:8.
The aforesaid phrase has spiritual parallel to Jesus Christ being the same yesterday, and today, and forever. (Heb 13:8)
Jesus is the Lord of Hosts, the Commander-in-Chief. He commands angel to do His biddings. Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches.
Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon
Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel and His Redeemer the LORD of hosts (Jesus); "I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God."
God is eternal with no beginning and no ending; "I am that I am". And God said unto Moses, "I AM THAT I AM": and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. (Exo 3:14)
Deu 33:27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms
Lord Jesus was speaking in Rev 1:8 with the similar phrase "which is, which was and which is to come" as in Rev 1:4 because "I and my Father are one" (Jn 10:30) and "whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak." (John 12:50)
Jesus' identity as "the first and the last" or "Alpha and Omega" is obvious from Rev 1:11 & 17-18.
The key to understanding Rev 1:8 is to know the one called "Alpha and Omega" and not from the specified attribute.
The term "Alpha (Α) and Omega (Ω)" literally is the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet or "the first and the last"
The terms "the beginning and the ending" and "the first and the last" have similar meaning and are repeated to strengthen the meaning. It means the beginning and ending of the creation of God (Rev 3:14).
Jesus sits on the throne with His Father God and are worshiped by angels who worship no man nor accept worship.
Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain
Rev 7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne
Lord Jesus is saying at latter part of Rev 1:17 to Rev 1:18 as deduced from his identity "the first and the last" which means "Alpha and Omega".
Rev 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, "Fear not; I am the first and the last: Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."
Jesus said: Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. (Jn 6:46)
Jesus the Lamb of God (Jn 1:36) is worshipped in Heaven.
Rev 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.
Rev 22:1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
As angels accept no worship from man (Rev 22:9) and worship no man but Jesus and God, then both of them are truly God.
The testing for the Holy Spirit is given in the Holy Bible. If one does not concur with the given test, then quote the scriptural verse which says otherwise. There is no verse which refutes the Holy Bible. So the challenge is either to take it or shut up! Whosoever confess "Jesus is the Lord" or "Lord Jesus" is led by the Holy Spirit indeed.
