very valid points. even with experience I would not do a cross cut using the rip fence. I would use a cross cut sled or miter. most table saws come with a cross cut miter fence.

He has all his fingers, so I'm sure the guard is in place when he's actually using the saw. As for "lieing" about the horizontal grains, remember that he's trying to teach basic safe operation to complete beginners in just a little over 3 minutes. It takes only a second to loose a finger or two doing something you don't have enough experience to do.

hes forgetting the guard, and hes lieing when he says to never do the grains going horizontally, if the piece of wood sits firmly on the fence, its okay for a cut.
