I noticed this one is not on here, only the re-recorded version they released in 1997, so here it is...

This version is known as the 'Studio D version' and can be found on original pressings of "Villains" or the single for the song.

Lyrics:

When I was young I knew everything
She a punk who rarely ever took advice
Now I'm guilt stricken,
Sobbing with my head on the floor
Stop a baby's
breath and a shoe full of rice

I can't be held responsible
She was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

My best friend took a week's
Vacation to forget her
His girl took a weeks's worth of
Valium and slept
And now he's guilt stricken sobbing with his
Head on the floor
Thinks about her now and how he never really
Wept he says

I can't be held responsible
She was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

hey yeah
hey yeah
hey yeah

We've tried to wash our hands of all this
We never talk of our lacking relationships
And how we're guilt stricken sobbing with our
Heads on the floor
We fell through the ice when we tried not to
Slip, we'd say

I can't be held responsible
She was touching her face
And I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen
We were merely freshmen

  • whats the difference with this version and the original? o.o

  • @penatbater there are actually 3 versions... the original was acoustic (you can search it on here, someone put a version from the radio up), this one and the more known one. Difference betwee this one and the most known is the guitar, listen to them back to back ad you ca hear it....

  • @daviddowns81 funny looking at this comment, i can tell this is when I broke the "n" key, lol.

  • me too, I am not sure if this is the original version.. I need to find a original release copy of "I've Suffered A head Injury", been looking, but to no avail.. I have heard a live version, but no lluck on finding a studio version.

  • Love it!!!

  • Takes me back in a good place!!

  • @daviddowns81 this is the BEST version of this song EVER made!! This song has so much meaning to me and it's good to hear more of the vocals than all the instruments... it touches my soul. Thanks for uploading!!

  • i liked this one better

  • this version is just so incredibly awesome.

  • hey this will perfectly sate one's mood most especially on a rainy night and chiLLaxin' .. this version is perhaps the best they've ever done so far .. IMHO :)

  • its 2011 and im still listening.

  • @daviddowns81 also his style of singing it is slightly different if you listen closeley, he goes up an octave a few times and accents his verses often :)

  • Man, this version is really taking back to my days in the 60's. The guitar is great and I do find myself wondering what it be like to do a couple of one-hitters and then listening to this. To quote Seinfeld, 'wild, wild, stuff'.
