I just bought an iMon VFD to go into my HTPC. I was fairly hopeful it would work in Linux; it does and here's a short video of it in action.

  • Those iMons are pretty good. The new ones have a white backlit screen - I kid you not. Soundgraph are a bunch of morons.

  • I don't use mine any more. Thanks for letting me know ComicPenius, I'll stick it on eBay ;-)

  • Hi,

Well I had a hard time. When this video was taken, I was actually using Feisty. It stopped working in Gutsy but now works again in Hardy!

  • Seriously, what did you do to make this work? Every time I try to compile the drivers for imon_vfd it refuses to make the module in both ubuntu 10.10 and mythdora 12 in mythdora it even says that the kernel doesn't allow moduels and that I could unlock that with 'make config' but again, linux defeats me. Are you running lirc_imon for mythtv?

  • I'm upgrading to MythBuntu 8.04 tomorrow. We'll see how it goes from there.

  • Excellent work! Now if only you could explain how you got that to work. I have this built into a case (Silverstone LC10M) and have had absolutely no luck getting it to work for the past two years!
