Founded in 1950, the National Council on Aging (NCOA) is a nonprofit organization with a national network of more than 14,000 organizations and leaders. Our members include senior centers, area agencies on aging, adult day service centers, faith-based service organizations, senior housing facilities, employment services, consumer groups, and leaders from academia, business, and labor.
Our programs help older people remain healthy and independent, find jobs, increase access to benefits programs, and discover meaningful ways to continue contributing to society.
Great video. What aging in America means to different people. Love it.

Great video in support of senior centers!

I agree with you. I like to see that their are more concerned health care facilities and staff that focus on Home and Community Based Services. To include AL, HH, Senior Centers, and therapy. In Indiana, we tend to focus is skilled care first. In most states only 5% of seniors are in nursing homes, here it is more like 11%.

As a nurse, I believe this fine video is of interest for community health nursing. It shows U.S. senior citizens as well and active people. And it was neat to see Barbara J. Edlund, a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner from South Carolina. Among other things, this video can be used for older clients who need to become more active. It is inspirational.
Thank you, NCOA! Mary Ruth Hassett, PhD, RN,BC. 06/17/2008
