As for housing,how about we get the £600million the tories stole from us when they sold off the council houses.Though no government is going to sanction the massive build needed,when they know the effect it would have on present house prices. Be good to see all those greedy multiple house owners go bust. "Negative equity" What a beautiful phrase. Good luck Boris!!

Anther point. Boris Johnson met with house builders 2 months ago at an opulent banquet - the fundamental point of his speech: House builders should not be controlled by government to build affordable housing! So how can anybody believe him here!

You're right in some ways FreedomChicken, though some people like to have control over their house, do what they want with it, make it more energy efficient. Problem with private rented accommodation: landlords only care about an easy income stream, they don't care / don't want to pay for improvements if the house leaks heat like a sieve, which costs tenants the rest of their income to keep warm - I speak from experience! And yes, funny or not, you can't trust Boris!

How and where are you going to put 50,000 new homes Boris... and who is this "we"? The best thing politicians can do to introduce affordable housing is to sell off their bumper property portfolios! Look at the parliament register of interests. Approximately 70% of MPs are landlords. Now you know why they all think immigration and spiraling population is such a good thing.
