President Barack Obama said Saturday afternoon that the U.S. should take military action against Syrian targets but that he would seek authorization for use of force from Congress. The president's top national security advisers gathered Saturday at the White House, and Syrian television broadcast scenes of fighter jets, tanks and troops, flip sides of a countdown to a likely U.S. military strike meant to punish Bashar Assad's government for the alleged use of chemical weapons.
