An easier way to reinstall the hammer spring is to replace the safety first. The safety (together with the retaining plate) will hold the hammer in the correct position to reinstall the spring assembly.

Very helpful! Here's a trick I figured out that makes installing the trigger/sear assembly with no hassle in seconds. Cut a piece of heavy coat-hanger wire about 1/2". Before inserting in the rifle, line up the trigger and sear properly and insert the wire to hold them together, then drop the assembled part in the receiver. Hold and line up the trigger while you slide in the retaining pin which pushes out the wire. Watch out since the wire can spring out.
