He also introduces you to Jamie, his assistant engineer, PGS photographer, and all around man-behind-the-scenes. • On the shot of Jamie it shows what appear to be Yamaha Monitors, am I correct? I was debating between the Yamaha HS80M or the HS50M Monitors for a nice little starter home studio. Will the 50's put out enough Bass or will I have to get a sub-woofer also? Rock, Blues, Metal9 No Rap)

  • @hawg427 - You are correct. We like the HS50M's a lot. They're not nearly as fatiguing as the old NS10M's they replaced in the Yamaha lineup. They are a little bass-shy due to their compactness, so you might want a sub with them if you're mixing anything with a lot of low frequency information. Thanks for watching!

  • This is such an excellent example of how a simple set up, albeit with quality gear, and a lot of talent goes a long way. Thanks for all your great demos. Andy's style has prompted me to start using my fingers more for picking, and this video will hopefully convince my band what I have been saying about a good ribbon mic. Thanks!

  • @danpolicarpo - Very cool. Thank you!

  • I wonder if you've ever considered doing bass demos? Just a thought. Would be cool though. You might have to get in someone to play (bit like you do with Scotty to come do some shredding) but that's should be fine. Be awesome if you could. Who's with me?

  • @Butzopower Those were sound effects! Thanks,

  • what guitar is that in end of the video?very nice! =)

  • Andy has a voice for radio. He should seriously have his own show somewhere. I could name a thousand nationally syndicated D.J.s that could be canned, in order to make room for Andy. While we're at it, someone needs to give this man a weekly TV show giving lessons, jamming with bands, and talking about music. Andy's Corner, sponsored by PGS on Audience Network (Directv)? No reason his skills/voice should be limited to reviews.

My hats off to PGS for landing the gem known simply as "Andy".

  • Loving the Herb Alpert background music.

  • Is the image at 0:33 reversed or mirrored? I thought Andy was right handed!

  • you guys are pros

  • Hi PGS crew, I tested out the Yamaha HS50M & the HS80M Monitors at a Guitar Center today. The HS50's sounded great, until I listened to the HS80's. LOL So much more added Bass it wasn't even funny. No comparison. The 50's had to be maxed out due to a loud keyboard player in the store. When I turned the 80's on I put them on 10 in the back of the Monitor but only 10:00 on the interface the GC employee had there. That's what I like, plenty of extra power to call upon if needed. I'm going HS80M's

  • does the ribbon mic require 48v phantom power?

  • @randompersonsband1 i was just about to post the same thing.

  • Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass? Are you serious? Awesome, truly awesome.

  • That Royer Mic costs 1300 bucks on musicians friend.

  • This video demo is great, thanks Andy and Jamie!

  • wowsers that's a lot more work than i thought goes into making one of these videos. great job, guys! i love watching your stuff and listening to your tunes. i hope to some day make it out to oregon and see your shop in person

  • Thanks for all of your fantastic reviews, PGS. We really appreciate the quality work you guys put out. Keep it up!

  • I Like Methodology!

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos I didn't mean it like that, I men't the actually quality of the video audio. HD allows for higher bit-rate and samples in the audio. Don't give me wrong, it sounds great.

  • Andy, simple question.....what guitar cables do you use? Thank you for your reviews.

  • Can you do review of ProCo Rat distortion please

  • Andy is there a transcript of this video on pgs?

  • Absolutely fantastic video. I've always been very curious as to how you guys do your demos for years now. :D Thanks guys, for having been a great help to all of us gearheads on the net!

  • is Andy ambidextrous ?? at 0:34 .. he's holding a 'Lefty' . he's Talented enough already !!

  • @danakerman Thanks a lot! :)
