I just did that, although made things smell bad in the process. Not sure if my Kilpsch amp couldn't handle it, or the hard drive itself couldn't handle the power I was putting into it. Either way, it worked.
As far as how, it takes a little electronics knowledge. Just jack the stereo output to the voice coil input.
I recommend disconnecting the drive's own voice coil circuits somehow as well if you're trying this. Especially if you'll be running the drive while it's playing.

yes it's real, try it with a motor if you dont believe it. i have done it before especially with the inductance windings.
