The Cockroach, a new musical theatre scene, is about Sarah, a young woman fresh out of college trying to find her place in the world, and her encounter with a cockroach. Everyone is important, everyone has a story -- even cockroaches. "The Cockroach" explores the drama in everyday life as well as tackling the question: what if a cockroach could talk? As Sarah invites the audience over for dinner, she can't help but express her strong feelings of ownership and independence at acquiring her first apartment. Sarah, like many of us, is trying desperately to find her place in this world, but the simple appearance of a cockroach shatters her world in an instant. The cockroach, on the other hand, is the antithesis of Sarah; the cockroach is confident, happy-go-lucky, the world is his oyster. There's no place he can't go, there's nothing he won't eat. Perhaps these are the qualities of a cockroach that really frighten us.
Featuring Caitlin Shea as Sarah, John Robert Keena as the Cockroach with Mary Cat Gill directing and original music and lyrics by Roc Lee.
