The City Legacy consortiums vision of the Athletes Village for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The consortium was today (23 June 2009) recommended as preferred bidder to design and build the Athletes Village at Dalmarnock in the East End of Glasgow. The project will employ 620 people and will include initially the development of 700 riverside homes and related accommodation for the Games Village. Once the Games are over, the village will provide a new family-focused community to grow and regenerate the East End of Glasgow. Work is planned to begin next year and will be completed six months before the Games start in 2014. The City Legacy consortium includes : Developers and contractors, CCG, Cruden, Mactaggart & Mickel, and W H Malcolm; Masterplanners and Design Champions, RMJM; Bid Management, Project Management and Cost Management, Davis Langdon LLP.
