What does it mean to have purpose in profession? For a long time, the purpose was the profession---get a job, stick with it, retire. In other words, it was okay to settle as long as there was a steady paycheck rolling in. In this eye-opening talk, friends and business partners Nathanial Koloc and Evan Walden discuss a cultural shift in thinking about jobs, in which people desire to have purpose within their profession, seeking organizations whose missions align with their own, and never settling for a paycheck alone. Using their personal backgrounds as color, they show how they align impact-driven professionals with impact-driven organizations and vice versa.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

The speakers make an excellence case that the majority of Millennials, from all backgrounds, refuse to settle for a job that merely pays their salary. They want to make money, but they are willing to make financial sacrifices for increased social impact and purpose in their work. A recent Net Impact study of Millennials found that over 50% would take a 15% pay cut to work for an organization whose values matched their own. You have to work with purpose, on something bigger than yourself.

ok 500 characters so ill try to be concise. the 80 people that applied to your talent pool do not represent the generation of 80 million. this is known as a selection bias. i.e. upper middle-class white kids perplexed by the concept of not being ecstatic about work EVERY morning aren't going to indicate the opinions of a entire generation. please return to statistics 101 before you do any more "case studies" taught by nobel laureate astronauts because you're drawing conclusions from bad data.
