@nicodagger - Absolutely. Monk's style wasn't Bebop, it was, well, Monk. Compare Bud and Monk along side Bird and Dizzy. There's a conceptual commonality between Bird, Diz, & Bud that is not present in Monk. Monk was on a different plane - neither better nor worse, just different. Just like Tristano, even when he was playing in the JATP concerts, was on a different plane.
