  • Where is the actual video footage of this great storm? Most if not all videos on YT are jut slideshows. This was 1978 after all.

  • And if Las Vegas gets an inch of snow the whole town basically shuts down. It's relative to the NORM, ya Canuk shmucks. If you're ALWAYS getting these kinds of storms, then you're basically always prepared for them, right? The midwestern US had NEVER had a storm like this, so IT MADE HISTORY. Get over yourselves. You couldn't handle a 98degree, 95% humidity Ohio summer, so SHUT UP.

  • I remember this well. The storm came in about 3:00pm or 4:00pm. It came in like a lamb and roared like a lion all night. We had a payloader in the neighborhood start to dig us out but the dang thing broke down. I was standing in the driveway of our house thank god it was after school. The snow started and it looked harmless when it started. But soon it was roaring!

I watched the neighbors house just dissapear. All in all people came together and helped each other but I will never forget.

  • We left Indiana in '77. But, as I recall the snow followed us all the way to Louisiana!! They had NO snow removal equipment and we were stuck...in Louisiana! OH..the bad ol' years!! :D

  • @AGRAV64 People from Indiana are referred to as Hoosiers, not Indianans.

  • @AGRAV64 Couldnt agree more

  • I Lived It 15 years old I had a Ball

  • there was drifts blocking highways for miles 421 in northern indiana had a two mile wide drift more than a story deep

  • I remember that storm. We were living in an apartment in Battle Creek, Michigan. I got up that morning and I noticed the howling wind and peeked outside. The snow was just starting to drift over the hood of my car and you couldn't see very much. Since there was zero snow the day before, I was a little shocked, but went back to bed. We were snowed in by drifts that I estimate were 15 feet deep in the parking lot for 3 days before backhoes dug us out.

  • @AGRAV64

Boston doesn't get much snow but if they do they can watch the Rhode Island Patriots get stomped by the Indianapolis Colts.

  • @Nobody1448 skaskachewan gets just as hot if not hotter ive lived there and indiana.

  • The blizzard that hit New England was 10 days after this, February 5-7th of 1978. An epic year for winter weather. The Hartford Civic Center roof collapsed on Jan 30th only a few hours after thousands were in the building. I remember Governor Grasso closing all the roads in CT except for emergency use, and the hurricane force winds that produced white out conditions. We got almost 40 inches near our house in Eastern CT and giant drifts over our heads.
