Do not attempt to sharpen scissors without sufficient training. Read the blogue:

: I make money by sharpening salon shears. But restoring a well made shear and handing back to a stylists properly sharpened is a source of great satisfaction to me beyond the monetary rewards. I enjoy handeling the blades and sharpening them perfectly and that is why I have developed the Rapid Hone. The my method consists of three main components, resulting in quick sharpening of salon and grooming shears. Each is a important part of the system. 1- The Norton 4000/8000 combination Sharpening Stone.2- The Mini Belt 3/8 x 13 Sander 3- The Rapid Hone Scissor Sharpener The 4000/8000 Norton Combination Stone will allow you to quickly and easily address the inside ride lines of a convexed Salon shear. It will most importantly correct serious flaws or imperfections that do not allow the scissor to perform correctly. The 4000 part quickly corects flaws and the 8000 quickly polishes. The Mini Belt Sander will allow for you to not only sharpen the German bevel edged scissor very quickly. Most conventional systems sharpen a "bevel edged in 2-5 minutes. The Mini belt sander will sharpen a bevel grooming shear, a barber shear, or a sewing shear in about twenty seconds! In addition it will correct flaws in beveled edge shears or convexes scissors. It will even sharpen knives. It will create a bur for convexed and can even be used to stand alone to sharpen a convex shear. The Quick Salon Scissor Sharpening uses a simple durable ball bearing motor It is very smooth and quiet. It has been in use commercially by jewelers around the world for decades. With it's twin shafts it can address both right handed scissors and the 7% left handed scissors. The way it is set you can easily determine the angle and see it correctly applied. It uses a easily obtained fuse available at Radio Shack. Both shafts l allow you to quickly sharpen and finish a salon scissor. Many stylists will smile when you hand them the razor sharp ultra smooth scissors. You should analyse the shear for sharpening. Not all shears should be attempted. Why? They are just not good candidates for sharpening. You will have to spend too much time and even then the shear will not perform satisfactory. Analysing and working the "ride lines.' Few stylists even know what ride lines are. You need to know what ride lines are, how to analyze them and restore them to optimum efficiency so that the shear will cut as good or often better then new. The first step is sharpening so that a bur bur is produced. Then polishing and deburring. Balancing and lubricating the scissor. Without the correct balance or adjustment a shear will not perform correctly. This is often something that is another thing that many stylists themselves were not taught in cosmology school. As a sharpener you will run into scissors that have been sharpened by systems that bevel instead of convex the scissor. Other sharpening systems. Tests of sharpness for quality control. The Quick sharp training will equip you to sharpen salon shears relitivly quickly. It is thousands of dollars less then it's nearest competitor. This will make your beginning entry into sharpening easier to bear. . The other way is one on one. The trouble with this is first of all you have to travel somewhere. But you can write me -Rod

I do reccomend you get training so that you do not ruin scissors.
