This looks really cool! Now it just needs an enigne and a control to make an r/c frame! lol

you should get in to 3d engineering, I'm at 3d animation, but i use really similar techniques. But anyway, recreating this stuff in computer will really give you more details, and concept for improvements. Anyway great job in the realworld.

Nice project, if you really serious about this stuff, go into mechanical engineering. Excellent field. I'm in it and graduating into two days. A lot of calculations you have to do but it's worth the effort and certainly looks good on resumes for jobs and such.
where did you buy the leaf springs?

@sherbutorange I made them out of spring steel inserts from old windshield wiper blades. I gathered enough of them, cut them to variable lengths, formed them into an arc, and rolled the eyes into each end of the longest, 6inch strips. Un-altered they're like a foot long, completely straight, and have a really low spring rate making them quite flexible. They're really cool to use. I'm sure a custom spring shop has much better options though, as these inserts are very narrow.

This is really cool. Found it while searching for animation clips of AWD systems. It was for a high school project? You've got a better grasp of the basics of it than most I know. . .

Thank you. Yeah, it was for my high school senior project. I'm hoping to make another, larger one someday.

Why did you set up the spindles/steering the way you did? Looks like that set up will cause a lot of stress on the pinns. I love all the work you have put into the setup. And did you cast the parts?

The steering was done at the last minute. I was debating even putting it on because I was running out of time. And you're right, it does put a lot of stress on the pins. It was supposed to be a cheap King-Pin setup. But I never really got to finish it. And no I didnt cast the parts. They're basically just square tubing and round bar that I bent, cut, welded, etc into form. I think the outer bushing sleeves were from an old timing chain. Anyways, thanks for the comment. I'm glad you like it.
