This is where the game begins to get serious, letting you know that yes, it really fucking wants you dead. The danmaku bats in particular are a good taste of what's to come in the future. Also please excuse the demons emanating from teru's mic, we'll try and get them exorcised before the next video.

Hey, thanks for making these LP videos; after I saw the first two, I knew that I had to download it and try it for myself. I can't read Japanese though, and I'm at a loss for what some of the upgrades do (I just beat the Area 4 boss and couldn't figure out what I got). Is there an English guide for the game that I can reference?

@metroid1117 The bosses of areas 4-7 each give you one of the treasures that act as proof of completing the trial. Collecting these items is the goal of the game. They have no effect on gameplay. You'll be able to figure out what the next item you find in a chest does, but if you find a shop in area 5 then buy the 8 (might be 10) coin item immediately.

We're trying to get tools made so we can translate the signs in the game. Hopefully that will actually happen at some point.

@metroid1117 Also this game is EXTREMELY obscure. I can't stress that enough. So no guide exists for it anywhere as far as I know. I encourage you to try and get your friends to play along with you and in general spread the word on how enjoyable the game is.

dont knock the first bat over so far then freeze it by ducking on that ledge

to self destruct press all the face buttons simultaneously. due to input limitations, this probably wont work on a USB keyboard

@zombierobopirate I have a ps2 keyboard that usually doesn't have input issues, but I still can't get the self-destruct to work. Oh well, it's not terribly important.

Your suggestion for the bat would work. Using ledges like this for aiming is very helpful in parts of this game, and I guess I just didn't think of going it here.
