Love this film and couldn't believe how accurate Robert Duvall was! He looks and sounded just like R W Shambach!!! I went to a tent revival of his when I was little in the bronx and it was just like this. Until it scared the hell outta me when they came out with a fake casket (re acting nicodemus)

This is one of the best movies ever made. Duvall really understands his subject. Hollywood is rarely as stupid as when it tries to address America's popular religion.

This style of preaching is called "Tag Team Preaching" and is very popular at revival meetings in the South. The folks on stage with Robert Duvall are actual preachers, and some people actually got saved during the filming of this scene, including a crew member. Duvall was a stickler for accuracy in this film, and it showed. One of the best cultural films about Pentacostals ever made.
