the above link is for chucks w/ a key

  • That is tempered steel and may not weld very well (makes it brittle and will brake or crack )

I have seen Jacobs Chucks with Threads (most have threads) and so a long bolt and locking nut (cut the head off the bolt ) will give you what you want and possibly you could use different sizes 3/8 to 1/2 ?

    What do you think?

  • @GIZMOPRIME I'm with you on the brittleness-the chucks are not too expensive, so to just try it out if a rapid coupler is important, might not be so bad. I did this video for Dan, I have the capability to produce a dedicated coupler with not so much fuss if I needed it.

I've not worked with the threaded chucks and suspect that the threaded end is solid - they would totally weld better, maybe be a little lengthier in use, getting good alignment might be a little more tricky.
