I have about 15 flights in now. Have been changing my settings using Castle link to try and get good long flight time, while keeping good control of it. It still did not sound right. After the last flight at work and noticing my Boss back way off when I spun it up. I thought I would put a actual tach on it and see what the readings were. With it set at "High Gov" settings of 1600-1600-1900 the actual reading was almost 2310 ! Way to high ! Lucky I did not blow up my fiberglass blades. Much less the woodys that I was flying with before ! So I changed the settings to "Set RPM" and 1600-1700-1800. Now the reading was 1710 at hover just above the ground !
Goes to show that i should of checked the actual blade readings a long time ago, and this helicopter is built a lot better than I even thought it was !

  • @Golgafrinchamdent i have this tach and there is no laser on that thing. Its a photosensor. Only works with outside light (sun). Electrical lightning flicker very fast (60 times per seconds) and mess with these.

  • Hi, nice vid... I'm going to be getting one of these non-contact tachs pretty soon. Can you tell me if you have to use the reflective tape with yours? If you have to keep the laser aligned with the tape then I suppose taking a reading while hovering would be very difficult. Thanks for posting.

  • i am new to rc helcopters how do you ajust the rpm?
