I think one of the biggest influence in my young life was music in my schools. It had such a powerful effect on me, that it saddens and even frightens me to hear that some schools are loosing there music programs.

If the music programs at a school near you is troubled check out:
http://www.supportmusic.com/

Another cool program is VH1 Save the Music, because they donate instruments to schools:

  • Great Job!

  • I was in band through middle and high school. It changed my life as a person and it got me in college. Please do NOT touch our music programs.

  • good job trent...But whats with the lissssp?

  • Moment, the moment in and out of time,

The distraction fit, lost in a shaft of sunlight,

The wild thyme unseen, or the winter lightning

Or the waterfall, or music heard so deeply

That it is not heard at all, but you are the music

    While the music lasts.

  • My daughter was very shy in her early teens. She joined band in 7th grade, playing trumpet. Her senior year, she was Band Captain, Asst. Drum Major, Trumpet Section Leader, Music Librarian, and played trumpet, French Horn & mellophone. She is now majoring in Music Ed & wants to be a band director. Please support Music Ed- she'll need a job soon!
