Defining your site or local root folder as Dreamweaver calls it is the one thing you absolutely want to be able to do. Defining this root folder is the first step to using Dreamweaver very effectively and allowing Dreamweaver to manage your site for you and keep all of the links-everything from images to other pages-updated as you move pages, elements, and files around in your site.
Defining a root folder takes a lot of the headache out of managing a website and allows you to properly use Dreamweaver. We are using Dreamweaver CS4 in this video but you should be fine following up to several versions back. Have fun!

  • thanks for the tutorial it was very helpful it helped me a lot but i must be doing wrong somethin if i got to my site i wont come into my site directly instead of that ill get a "index of" in other words i see my folders which i have created and only if i click on the html file i am getting in to my site. So i have to put my domain name including with slach forward index.html. if i dont do this i get in to my folders on my website. Anyone knows what im doing wrong?

  • That negative guy below me is a douche bag. I will never understand trolls who feel the need to constantly post negative remarks? It might be the result of

this generations lack of male role models? Or a latent homosexual?

  • Dreamweaver is the best tool to use on html right?

  • I cant believe how many times u said before we jump into dreamweaver.. u got 2 much time my friend

  • You all have alot of nerve leaving any negative feedback. This man has provided countless FREE videos for us... U should have no complaints at all....... Sir, I dont feel as though u talked too much at all. As a new user of Dreamweaver, every single word was helpful. Thank you :-) I do have a suggestions tho- It would be nice to know what video to watch next. Where do I go from here? I'll figure it out tho. Happy New Year!

  • @geobjork he cant do it if he dont have a mac ...... -.-

  • I HATE PC'S... I HAVE A MAC SO A LOT OF THE STUFF IS DIFFERENT... HAD A PC ONCE... IT WAS A NIGHTMARE... YOU SHOULD DO A TUTORIAL ON A MAC FOR THIS STUFF.

  • I think you like the sound of your own voice. Nice tut but, stick to the script. Less irrelevant chat and never ending descriptive language would be great. Thanks.
