to me the real question isn't about making the photo, but rather printing it. how did they print/manufacture the pictures ? :)

They wasn`t printed, those photoes are 3 glass plates each of its own color, they used 3-way projector to view positive photography on screen.

But they did have tech to print it on paper in color, there is even some books with those photoes known which predates 1917
