back squat

im doing 5 sets of 5 at 95 kg
i weigh 70 kg
i only started squatting a month ago but my program is basicaly 5 x 5 and do some contrast exercises between like i do a few vertical jumps between sets to get my nervous system good at recruiting the same high intencity motor units that i use in squatting when i jump.

  • You back looks like it rounds and your feet are pointed outwards. Although hard to tell on the side view. I wouldn't go as deep with that weight if you can't keep your back from arching.

  • i was not concentrating on the arch in my back as much that day because im trying to keep a more neutral back instead of full on arch. but i can actualy hold the arch quite extreme if i want to but i think its actualy bad the ammount i do it.

im deliberately pointing my feet out and my knees are tracking over the center of my foot. your knees shouldnt point forwards or you would have to point your knees in abit to keep the tracking correct and its bad for your ligaments.

  • Not heard/read about the ligament thing before, although just checked and my feet naturally point out a little, just looked odd.

And from what I understand the type of rounding you do isn't too bad, not the low bit at the hip, and not rounding out, but still looked a little dodgey on a couple of reps. I need to film my form to check it properly.

You'll soon be on double bw. :)

  • No, you're not listening. Stopping at 90 degrees does damage, but going lower does not do damage. Squatting is the single most effective exercise you can do, if done correctly. But feel free to avoid them and never be strong.

  • i appreciate that your worried about my knees but i research every type of training i do quite extensively.

please dont spread missinformation that you have gotten from word of mouth or some other unreliable source.

i can quote you scientific studies onsquatting deep if you realy want.

as for you not doing squats.. your missing out. they increase tendon ligament and bone strength at 80 percent of 1rm and will make you jump like a beast and have good glute activation/ knee alighment
