The United States recently closed the border to travel into Canada without a passport, starting the 1st of June 2009, but that did not work, because the United States has no control on travel to Canada, and can not bar US citizens entry back into the United States. So, since that did not work, the United States stopped allowing Canadians to travel into the United States without a passport, starting on June 24. This video points out that requiring passports to travel to Canada has severely restricted travel, and greatly reduced business in Canada. A Canadian family visiting the falls said, "we got plenty of people". So I guess Canada does not mind, but I tell you Starbucks sure does, and every other business as well.
there should most definetly be a border between mexico in the U.S not that i care since im Canadian but i agree with you on being no border between the U.S and Canada

I'm confused. I heard you need a passport to get back in the USA if traveling from Alaska to the US thru Canada. Is it really that stupid that I would need a passport to get back in my own country?

I think only forgeing nationals who live in Canada and the US should show their passports if they need to cross the US-Canada borders. Otherwise, things should be normal for Canadians and US citizens.....at least they can show an ID card.......just a thought.
