One of the best underrated bands of the '80s. The Vipers had a lot of energy and were great on record as well as on stage.
I saw them once, and I bought their lps in '86 from Record Vault (thanks Zary) and Midnight Records.
This is my tiny tribute - dig the song (truncated format).

  • This clip-show has all of my favorite stuff!

  • The Vipers were an obscure '80s band that was transfixed with '60s garage/proto-punk, often drawing comparisons to such similarly styled outfits as the Chesterfield Kings, the Cynics, and the Lyres. There was also an Irish Vipers. These guys sound great.

  • The Vipers were from NYC.

You might be thinking of The Wipers, who were from Portland. They played gigs with Irish bands Stiff Little Fingers and Boomtown Rats.

  • Is this the Irish new wave group from '78 that toured with The Boomtown Rats?
