@differentFOCUS Oh thank you very much! It's one of the non-material things I value in life lol

@DamienZshadow thanks man, you take care as well. btw, i loved some of the vids of you tricking and doin martial arts and stuff! Pretty good/amazing! :)

@differentFOCUS Very moving conviction but whatever the end result may be, I do wish you the best on your journey. Take care.

@DamienZshadow It IS, if that's the case. those people listening either come to God for those wrong reasons (believing they are scum, fear of Hell alone, etc.)--then hopefully find out later that Jesus died for them (so obviously they're worth something) and loves them and God is so much bigger than they thought..OR the listeners are just turned off altogether to God by some misrepresenting, manipulative evangelist.i know what God says about me -good things-it's not about what i do, but who i am

@differentFOCUS Fair enough. I just happen to hear this common theme used also when preaching to nonbelievers. I see it more of psychological manipulation. The concept attacks one's concept of self worth by making them feel like they need a purpose, like a tool. If you are not being used then you are worthless. It seems to appeal to their nature to feel useful. What better way to make followers dependent on a religion than to demote any sense of self worth? That's just my interpretation though.

@DamienZshadow its cool, the vid is directed more 2 Christians who SAY they believe in God/Jesus, but they ADD God on to their lives as an accessory. If some1 truly believes n something, it becomes a lifestyle/passion; not a flippant thing..When the guy says "no value apart from God," he's making a comparison..like the diff b/t saying "My life is so valuable, but with God, it's even more awesome!" AND "God is everything- I need Him! Nothing else compares!" He's challenging American "Christians"

@differentFOCUS I specifically said not materialism. Value can certainly be found in one's finite life without any possessive figures. As you stated, I find value in the love and compassion we build together. I find value in the accomplishments fellow man can do when working together towards a common goal. I find more value in the finiteness of our lives. Our limited time of existence makes this time together so precious it can never be replaced so we must make the best of our experiences.

@DamienZshadow (pt 2) People judge their lives by what they obtained a lot...they put value their n things. Materials cannot and will not fulfill you forever. your good deeds certainly don't hurt anyone, but followers of Christ know that love is of God- it's unconditional, it's sacrificing, it's deep. n no one who calls themselves Christian are perfect! I FIND GREAT VALUE IN MY LIFE TOO and other peoples'. God finds value in your life. He wants us to see the value of it- 2 kno how to value it.
-
@DamienZshadow the VALUE is in an eternal perspective. everythings dying--wasting away--the fact is that your cars or materials or whatever cannot be taken with you after this life...I would not disagree that things have value...because they do have some value for a short time...but in comparison to an eternal timeline....it's clear that things that really matter are things that can't be seen...love is one...

I find it funny how a lot of Christian sermons begin with tearing your sense of value down. If I had done a good deed for every time a Christian told me my life is meaningless or worthless it still wouldn't mean anything to them just because I don't praise their particular deity. Sorry, but I do find a great value in my life and everyone else. The power to do great things for one another, not necessarily materialistic, but nevertheless great.
Jesus is true prosperity!
Pro 3:13 Happy is the man that finds wisdom, & the man that gets understanding.
:14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, & the gain thereof than fine gold.
:15 She is more precious than rubies & all the things you can desire are not to be compared to her.
:16 Length of days is in her right hand; & in her left hand riches & honour.
Prosperity means: Don't veer to the right or the left, but keep your eyes on Jesus!
